Q.
Recently a
friend with thinning
hair who I don't see
very often noticed
my hair looked
thicker than the
last time she saw
me. Since she saw
me last, I've
discreetly been
wearing a hair
addition. While I
love my new look, I
wasn't comfortable
revealing all the
details to her, even
though I've told her
in the past I used
hair fiber
products to
camoflage my
thinning hair. I
want to help this
girl out, but how do
I do that without
exposing my personal
secret?
A.
That's a tough
question! It's great
that you've found
something that works
for you and I
understand wanting
to help someone else
out while keeping
your personal
information to
yourself.
Generally, when
compliments are
offered about your
hair, thank them
kindly and go about
your business; but
if someone who knew
you earlier asked
more specific
questions about your
hair, you
might suggest the
name of a place
you've "heard" that
may offer options to
them during a
consultation. For
instance, HPI is
very confidential
with our client
information and we
do not disclose
any
information or even
acknowledge someone
is a client unless
they have given us
written consent.
Many women will
talk privately with
the person telling
them their little
"SECRET" but if you
do not feel
comfortable doing
that, then try the
suggestion above. I
hope this helps
balance your
disclosure dilemma
with your generous
urge to help a
fellow female with
hairloss concerns.
