I’ve had the pleasure of featuring the Hair Prosthesis Institute many times on Talk of the Town , but it wasn’t until I experienced HPI firsthand with my friend Julie that I truly understood the magnitude of the life-changing work you do every day.

When Julie started losing her hair, she’s already suffered the indignity of breast cancer, and was struggling to make it through each day as the effects of chemotherapy ravaged her body. The last thing she had the energy to worry about was her hair; but there it was, falling out by the handful and demanding that she find a solution. When I offered to introduce Julie to my friends at HPI, she had already tried on a number of synthetic wigs, and had resigned herself to the idea that she’d be wearing something that didn’t look or feel natural. Needless to say, she was delighted to see the beautiful option that HPI had to offer, and it put her mind at ease to know that she’d be well take care of when the time came.

I can’t say enough about the kindness and compassion you showed to Julie. At such and emotional time, you and your staff have a remarkable fight for sensing what your client is feeling, whether it’s sadness, anxiety or loss, and knowing exactly right words to help her through it. I experienced a solemn, tearful time as you took the rest of her hair and styled her prosthesis… but the room was filled with fun and laughter, coupled with a sense of respect and peace that I never imagined. Julie left that day with beautiful new hair that restored her outward appearance, but even more important, it restored her confidence and self-image as well.

Julie just celebrated a milestone birthday, and it was such a joy to see her looking and feeling beautiful at her surprise party. As she continues her cancer treatment, it’s been such a blessing to know that her hair isn’t something she has to worry about, because HPI provided her with a wonderful alternative until her natural hair returns.

I can’t thank you enough for your kindness and generosity, and it warms my hear to know that all of your clients receive this special treatment. No wonder they call you and angel!
